An Ordinary Church
These days everyone feels the pressure to appear impressive. We feel it too. Then we are reminded that ordinarily God does his most profound work through ordinary people, using ordinary means:. Bread and wine, water for baptism, the words of scripture faithfully proclaimed, and a church community filled with ordinary people doing their best to follow Jesus together. So that's what we aspire to be: ordinary people doing ordinary things for the glory of God and the good of our neighbors.
Reformed, Presbyterian and Gospel-Centered
We know God is at work all over the world in faithful Christian churches from across a wide spectrum of denominations and traditions. We are grateful to take our place amongst the broader Christian community even as we stand within our own particular heritage. Anchor is rooted in the classically reformed, theologically conservative church tradition. We are connected to a larger body of churches called the Presbyterian Church in America. However the most important thing to know about us is our commitment to the gospel. The gospel is the good news that in Jesus Christ, God has done everything necessary to rescue us from our sin, renew our hearts, and restore the world. It's a free gift of grace and it changes everything. That's the anchor that holds us steadfast.
